Sydney Harbour Dental’s new-patient exam and consultation are the hallmarks of the practice. Dr Killen performs a complete extra-oral and intra-oral assessment, as well as full mouth digital x-rays, periodontal (gum) screening and oral hygiene analysis. All findings are discussed, and any recommendations are clearly explained with personal options. The result is a comprehensive treatment plan designed to help you achieve a healthy, beautiful smile that can be maintained for a lifetime.
General
Dr Mark Killen and his team at Sydney Harbour Dental provide all types of general dental treatment using the latest technology to create beautiful and healthy smiles. This includes general dental treatment such as cleaning, fillings, root canal therapy, periodontal therapy (gum treatment) and extractions, to more complex cosmetic work such as crowns and bridges, veneers, implants and teeth whitening.
Preventive
We believe that prevention is better than cure. It is the cornerstone of our practice. We like to ensure that patients understand the importance of prevention so that they can maintain there smiles forever. The Australian Dental Association recommends having a check-up every 6 months. At every check-up we examine the teeth and mouth and follow up on any issues detected previously. Cleaning the teeth to remove plaque and calculus is also done to ensure the continued health of the teeth and gums. Here we also review your oral hygiene and make any recommendations if necessary.
Cosmetic
At Sydney Harbour Dental we appreciate the importance of a healthy and attractive smile. Porcelain veneers can be used to mask a single dark tooth but more often are used as part of smile makeover. A veneer is a new front surface of a tooth, custom made from porcelain. They are extremely versatile and can replace chipped or broken teeth, instantly straighten teeth and also brighten a smile to the exact shade that you desire. Veneers can be combined with whitening to enhance your smile and appearance.
Dental Implants
Dental implants are the modern way to replace missing teeth. The implant, which is made of titanium, is fitted into the bone where the tooth root would normally be. After 4-6 months when the titanium is fully integrated into the jaw bone, a post (or abutment) is attached to the implant. Finally a crown, bridge or denture is then placed over the abutment to replace the missing tooth or teeth. We work in close collaboration with our implant surgeons to get the best possible out comes.
Tooth Whitening
We offer two convenient methods of teeth whitening to get a bright set of pearly whites In Office Whitening Sydney Harbour Dental uses the newly released ZOOM in-chair whitening system that gives excellent results and benefits from reduced sensitivity over previous formulations. Results are achieved in 3-4 x 15min in-chair applications using the new LED light technology. We recommend a complimentary consultation before you complete the ZOOM to make sure you get the best results. Take Home Whitening A popular option for many of our patients, take home whitening is safe and easy to use at home. We make custom made trays from molds of your teeth to maximize the accuracy and comfort of application. Gel is placed in the trays which are worn for up to 1 hour a day. Excellent results are usually achieved in about 10-14 days.
